Glue
Glue is a visual artwork that captures the essence of an internal struggle, that of the individual trying to break free from social and identity assignments. The silhouette in full sprint, held back by a trail of chemical filaments, embodies an intense and ongoing fight to escape the sticky trap of an out-of-frame society. This struggle, although marked by resistance, suggests that there is still a possibility of rupture that could lead to emancipation.
Glue denounces social assignment, the process of marking individuals according to specific roles and characteristics attributed to them by society. These assignments, whether related to gender, social class, origin, or other criteria, create a rigid, fixed framework from which the individual tries to escape.
There is an ambiguity in this work, an uncertainty about the fate of this flight. Can the human truly free themselves from what holds them back, or will their attempt be in vain?
